Introduction – Da Vinci Unified

The Da Vinci Unified (DVU) Supply Chain Suite is an integrated software-as-a-solution (SaaS) platform that helps manage warehouse inventory, inbound and outbound shipments, transport systems, and yard facilities.

This user guide describes how to configure and use the DVU platform. All functionality is available in the DVU cloud.

Overview

DVU supports both paper-based and barcode scanning environments with radio frequency (RF) hand-held devices. To optimize the order fulfillment process, DVU provides advanced distribution processes:

Inbound Logistics - Receive directly into inventory, label printing, and directed putaway to storage or cross-docking.
Storage and Facility Management - Replenish pickable storage locations, optimize storage space, run cycle counts, and manage physical inventory.
Value Added Services - Labeling, packing, and kitting.
Outbound Logistics - Picking, staging, packing, and product consolidation, plus loading and shipping.
Transportation - Inside the optional Transportation Management System (TMS) module, plan and optimize the physical movement of inbound and outbound freight (managed and unmanaged).
Yard Management - Inside the Yard Management System (YMS) module, optimize the equipment utilization.

Working environments

The DVU platform has four main working environments. Access to the environment varies with the subscription service purchased.

DVU Platform

The DVU Platform starts at the Home page where DVU users open modules, access templates, configure platform settings, and track inventory.

Users can access the three key environments: Warehouse, Transportation, and Yard.

Warehouse

The Warehouse Management System (WMS) helps optimize the movement of goods and inventory to and through the warehouse or terminal. The WMS handles inventory tracking, picking, kit building, shipping, receiving, and putaways.

Transportation

The Transport Management System (TMS) is an add-on service that allows DVU users to plan and optimize the physical movement of inbound and outbound shipments, build loads, create quotes, and more.

Yard

The Yard Management System (YMS) is an add-on that helps users manage yard assets, improve traffic and dock flow, reduce demurrage and detention expenses by automating and digitizing processes, and more.
