Open this page to configure settings that influence RF scanning on the warehouse-terminal floor. The Barcode Scanning page has four main sections.
Feature highlight
One of the key features that DVU users can access on this page is putaway, a time-saving inventory relocation task that automates storage location selection from the receiving area.
-
Read about the three putaway fields below.
-
To enable the putaway feature, click here to learn how to configure platform settings.
Shipping - General
-
Pick To Mode - If enabled, this feature guides pickers and packing station staff. The RF scanner displays a prompt that lets users know where to move inventory by location type. The options are none, carton, pallet, tote, or location only (e.g. staging area).
-
Enable Variable Lot Code - When enabled, the RF gun prompts floor staff to scan the lot code when completing a shipping order. If enabled, this is a required input.
-
Enable Variable Sublot Code - When enabled, the RF gun prompts floor staff to scan the sublot code when completing a shipping order. If enabled, this is a required input.
-
Tag Value Duplicate Comparison Mode - na
-
Bypasses Relocate on Pick - When enabled, the RF gun skips the relocation step on the screen.
-
Minimize Scans on LPN Pick - When enabled, the RF gun jumps to the quantity input screen after scanning the LPN. The gun skips the item code, lot code, and sublot code scans.
-
Each, Case and Pallet SSCC - If SSCC is enabled for receiving, click a field and select where to display the data on the platform. Sublot is normally recommended. Click here to learn how to enable an account for SSCC.
Shipping - Analysis
The Shipping - Analysis section has multiple fields. Each field has the same drop-down menu choices: Ignore, Capture, and Compare. Capture and Compare generate screen prompts on the RF gun.
Receiving - General
-
Label Type - This field has been disabled.
-
Label User Defined Mask - Applicable when label type is user defined.
-
Enable Blind Receiving - When enabled, floor staff can receive an order on the RF gun without a receiving order (or similar document) in hand.
-
Each, Case and Pallet SSCC - If SSCC is enabled for shipping, click a field and select where to display the data on the platform. Sublot is normally recommended. Click here to learn how to enable an account for SSCC.
-
Location Mode - Name a storage location where floor staff can run spot checks and quality control before receiving inventory. Click the field and choose User Selected (a location that floor staff choose and scan) or Staging.
-
Confirm Values Prior to Commit - When enabled, the RF gun prompts staff to confirm each value.
-
Prompt for Values - na
-
Putaway Style - While receiving, this feature recommends a putaway location that is physically close to similar existing inventory in the warehouse. Click the field and choose how the platform should look for inventory matches: 1) by Item Code, 2) by Item and Lot Codes, 3) by Item, Lot, and Sublot Codes, 4) by Lot Code, or 5) by Sublot Code. This feature works in tandem with Putaway Prioritization.
-
Putaway Prioritization - Click the field and choose an option. Location Ascending, the default setting,
begins searches for a putaway location (using the Putaway Style setting) by scanning location names in alphanumeric order. Choose the Least Occupied option to prioritize an even distribution of inventory across the warehouse. This option sorts locations according to the amount of unoccupied space and starts with the location that has the most available space. Choose the Most Occupied option to prioritize efficient use of space. This option sorts locations according to the amount of unoccupied space and starts with the location that has the least amount of available space.
Note Click here to learn more about putaway requirements.
-
Directed Putaway Cube Analysis - When enabled, the directed putaway process takes into account the dimensions and weight limits of a location. To work effectively, dimensions and weights must be entered at the item level.
-
Enable Variable Lot Code - When enabled, the RF gun prompts floor staff to scan the lot code when completing a receiving order. If enabled, this is a required input.
-
Enable Variable Sublot Code - When enabled, the RF gun prompts floor staff to scan the sublot code when completing a receiving order. If enabled, this is a required input.
-
Auto-Print Pallet LPN - If enabled, a warehouse printer auto-prints a label after floor staff type an LPN into the RF gun. See Pallet LPN Label Type to set print options.
-
Auto-Print Carton Labels - If enabled, a warehouse printer auto-prints a label after floor staff type a carton number into the RF gun.
-
Pallet LPN Label Type - Click the field and choose an option. If Pre-Printed, floor staff can use pre-printed LPNs or print from the order action menu. If System Generated on Scan, the system auto-generates LPNs on RF receiving. If System Generated on Line Create, the system auto-generates one LPN per line entry when the order is created.
-
Capture UOM Dimensions on Items - If enabled, the RF gun prompts the user to enter missing dimensions and weights of an item. If the dimensions and weights for an item are already in the system, the RF gun does not prompt the user to enter the information.
Receiving - Analysis
Same as Shipping - Analysis.
