This article demonstrates a Primary Pick 2 replenishment scenario. It shows the platform configurations, workflow, and results.
Overview
When set to Primary Pick 2, the system generates a work order to replenish the primary pick location according to the conditions in the replenishment rule.
If the ordered quantity exceeds the replenishment quantity, the platform also creates pick tickets to fulfill a shipping order by directing staff to pick from the reserve location.
Platform configurations
Accounts > General Properties
-
Inventory Allocation > Allocation Mode = manual
Accounts > Inventory
-
Break Larger UOM to Smaller UOM for Allocation = enabled (optional but recommended)
-
Automatically Allocate Largest UOM = enabled (important)
Items/SKUs
-
Set item primary pick location.
-
Set replenishment rule.
Storage Locations
-
Identity at least one reserve storage location and make sure it is not set as a pickable location (in this example DOOR2).
-
Make sure the primary pick location is set to pickable.
Storage Locations By Account
-
Assign all storage locations to an account.
Scenario
A shipping order for 25 eaches triggers:
-
a pick ticket to pick from the primary pick location and bulk storage location
-
a work order to replenish the primary pick location
Inventory settings:
-
store-1 inventory = 4 eaches
-
DOOR2 inventory = 5 eaches and 50 cases (CS:4)
Results
Shipping Order page
The Line Entries page shows how to fulfill the order. In this example, 1 each and 6 cases (CS:4).
The Pick Tickets page shows the same line entries. The page shows the primary pick location but leaves the location blank for the reserve pick.
Note This is the quantity that can fulfill the shipping order. DVU also generates a work order to replenish the primary pick location based on the threshold quantity in the replenishment rule. (see below)
Work order
The platform generates work orders that complete the requirements in the replenishment rule. In this example:
-
move two cases (CS:4) to the primary pick location
-
move two eaches to the primary location
The Inventory By Location module shows the results. Floor staff used the RF scanner to move 2 cases (CS:4) and 2 eaches (total of 10 eaches) to the primary pick location.
-
This was the quantity specified in the replenishment rule but does not deliver the quantity needed to fulfill the shipping order (25 eaches). Instead, the pick tickets show floor staff how to fulfill the order.
