This article shows DVU users how to configure settings on the Cartonization page and then cartonize the shipping order.
Note DVU users must complete all preparation steps before running the cartonization tool
Opening the module
-
Go to Home > Warehouse > Cartonization.
-
Use the search icon to locate the shipping order for this task.
-
Configure options at the top of the table. (see below)
Configure options
-
Create Pick Tickets - Check this box to automatically create pick tickets for the shipping order.
-
Put Order in Process - Check this box to automatically switch the shipping order status from Open to In Process.
-
Print options - Check a box to enable any of the three printing options or select Auto Print Document and let DVU automatically choose which documents to print based on the order attributes.
-
Sort Labels By - The sorting options, depending on the warehouse process for picking, are Order (sort labels by order) and Item Code (sort labels by item code).
-
Carton Stock - Click the field to specify the carton stock for this cartonization or choose System and let DVU choose the best option based on the quantities, inventory mix, item dimensions and weights, and cartonization rule. The system selects cartons from the smallest box to the biggest box and attempts to fill the entire dimension of the carton.
-
Printers - Set the printers to generate reports and labels.
Note Click here to learn how to set up carton stock.
Cartonize
At this point, the preparation work is complete. Now cartonize the shipping order.
-
Select the shipping order in the table.
-
Click the Cartonize button in the toolbar.
As DVU processes the order, a confirmation window displays. The message in the popup varies with the enabled print options. Click OK to continue.
Depending on the size and complexity of the order, DVU takes a few minutes to complete the cartonization. Once complete, DVU removes the row from the page.
Reviewing the shipping order
After the process completes, DVU displays the Cartonization main page. The cartonized order is not on the list.
Open the Shipping Orders module. Select the cartonized order and click Edit. The template shows three changes:
-
the status on the General page is now In Process (if the DVU user checks this box on the Cartonization page, otherwise the status remains as Open)
-
the system creates Pick Tickets
-
the system creates Packed Cartons
Note Click here to see two examples of a cartonized shipping order that is In Process.
Time out error
If the system lags and generates a Time Out error, make sure the Document Mapping page is configured correctly and contains all required document files.
