The TMS General page includes an option to add one or more sales representatives to a shipment, load, or pending quote. DVU automatically subtracts sales rep commission(s) from revenue when calculating profit.
Before you start
Confirm the sales representatives you plan on adding to shipments are already registered as users on the DVU platform. It is not possible to add a new sales representative’s name to the list of options on the General page.
Adding a rep and commission
Follow these steps to add one or more sales representatives and commission fees to a shipment, load, or pending quote.
-
Go to Home > Transportation > Dispatch.
-
Open a shipment, load, or quote (or create a new record).
-
On the General page, scroll down to Commission and click the plus
icon. A new window displays.
In the new window:
-
Search for a name.
-
Select a name on the drop-down menu. (see Error Messages below)
-
Enter a commission (dollars).
-
Click the X icon to close the window (there is no Save button).
DVU automatically factors the commission fee into the Profit calculation. In the screenshot below, a $100 commission fee was added to the shipment. With no other revenue or cost figures, the negative profit total reflects the commission fee.
Adding multiple reps
Users can add multiple reps and commissions to a shipment.
-
Open the Commission window.
-
Click the plus
icon. A new line displays.
-
Select a name and add a commission.
-
Repeat the steps to add another line. (optional)
-
Click the X icon to close the window.
DVU sums the commissions and reflects the total in the Profit figure.
Deleting a commission
If the Commission window has multiple commissions, click the Delete icon to remove the extra entries.
If the page has one entry, there is no Delete icon. Use the mouse to clear the name (click the x icon) and then remove the figure in the Commission field. Click the X icon to close the window.
Error message
Users must select a sales rep's name on the drop-down menu. That is the only valid input option.
DVU displays an error message if the user enters an invalid name and then clicks the Save button.
There are two types of invalid names.
-
In the screenshot below, the user enters the first three characters of a name but fails to select an option on the drop-down menu.
-
The system rejects any full name that is not on the drop-down menu.
