There are two ways to create a kit:
-
Open the Kits / BOM module and fulfill a kit order (with no unique SKU) at the packing station.
-
Open the Work Orders module and use the kitting feature to assemble a kit with a unique SKU before it arrives at a packing station.
This article shows DVU users how to fulfill a kit order with no unique SKU (the first option) at the packing station.
Before you start
The Kits / BOM workflow has a checkbox that changes the way a DVU user creates kits and manages kit component inventory. Before creating a kit, DVU users should understand the effects of the Does Not Require Assembly checkbox.

Creating a kit
The first step is to open the Create Kit workflow.
-
Go to Home > Warehouse > Kits / BOM.
-
Click the plus
icon.
A new Create Kit workflow displays.
-
Enter account and product information on the first page of the workflow.
-
Check the box to enable the Does Not Require Assembly feature (the recommended option for this workflow).
On the Create UOM page, go to the Qty EA/CS field and enter the number of eaches per kit. The number of eaches is the number of components (i.e. items) in the kit.
-
Users can go to step 2, Create UOM, even if the number looks greyed out.
Note Davinci auto-fills the Type, Description, and Abbreviation fields on the Create UOM page.
Fill in the fields in the Dimensions and Palletizing sections.
Go to the Kit page (#3) and add items to the kit.
-
Click the plus
icon.
-
Search for an item code.
-
Locate an item, select the row, and click Select Items.
DVU adds the item to the kit. Repeat the steps to add more items.
-
Scan the rows to confirm the items and quantity per kit.
-
Complete the other steps of the workflow. (optional)
-
Click Save.
Next steps
If the DVU user enables the Does Not Require Assembly option, no further steps are required. When a DVU user generates a shipping order for this kit, the picking and packing workflow moves normally:
-
floor staff pick the individual components (items in the kit)
-
associates assemble the kit at the packing station and ship out the completed order (e.g. place the required number of kit components into the order carton)
If the DVU user disables the Does Not Require Assembly option, floor staff need to pick the items and create each kit with a unique SKU. This work begins with a special work order called Kitting.
