-
Go to Home > Warehouse > Items/SKUs.

Completing the workflow
The first two steps of the workflow (Create Item and Create UOM) are required. The other steps are optional. Add information as needed to address local conditions.
1. Create Item
Properties
Each item is connected to an account. If the DVU user is managing the same item in multiple accounts, create a separate item in each account with a unique Item Code.
Best Practices
Add an SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number to each item record. Use the SKUs that your customer provides. When creating a new item, go to the Description field and enter a concise summary. These steps are optional but recommended.
-
Fill in the required fields.
-
Enter other item information as needed.
-
Make sure the Enabled box is checked. Uncheck the box to disable access to this item on other platform pages (e.g. Shipping Orders).
-
Insert an image. (optional)
Codes
Optionally, enter one or more handling/storage codes for this item.
Note Click here to learn how to create an Item code.
2. Create UOM
UOM
Use the drop-down menu to select a UOM type (each, inner pack, or case) and fill in the fields.
Dimensions
Configure items with accurate dimensions and weights. Add item dimensions (inches) and weight (pounds). The gross weight is the total weight of the box/container, including the contents. The tare weight is the weight of the box/container only.
Tip DVU users can configure item weights and dimensions when creating a receiving order and shipping order.
Palletizing
Tie and High describe how to stack products on a pallet. Tie is the number of cartons per layer, and the High is the number of layers of cartons. Configuring the Tie/High at the item level indicates the number of UOMs that can go on a pallet. DVU users can also set the maximum stack weight of the pallet (in pounds).
3. Advanced (optional)
Track Advanced Inventory Properties
Create a user-defined field to track a static property. To track dynamic properties, go to the Track Advanced Inventory Properties table. Indicate if those properties should be tracked on receipt and/or shipment.
Note DVU users can configure Track Advanced Inventory Properties to capture values during scan pack. Learn more.
User Defined Properties
These optional fields let DVU users assign searchable tags to the item. These tags are for internal use and are not visible outside the platform. Possible use cases include:
-
Track the language of a game (e.g. Field Title = Language and Field Value = French)
-
Track the author of a book (e.g. Field Title = Author and Field Value = Kurt Vonnegut Jr.)
Other optional fields
-
Velocity - Click the field and select an option, if applicable.
-
Temperature Range - Set the min and max temperature range for this item in degrees F.
-
