create a shipping order
-
create a pick ticket and change the order status
-
check the auto-generated work order
-
replenish the stock
-
verify the replenishment
Note Click a link to see a description of each replenishment mode, detailed configuration settings, and a scenario workflow.
Background conditions
The system auto-generates a replenishment work order when two conditions are true at the same time:
-
a user creates a new pick ticket
-
the quantity in the pickable location(s) is at or below the threshold quantity
Note Be sure to configure the DVU before completing the steps on this page.
Tracking the steps
Note In this scenario, the DVU user created a replenishment rule with the threshold quantity set at 9.
1. Creating a shipping order
In this shipping order example, the ordered quantity (25 eaches) is greater than the pickable quantity. The pickable quantity (5 eaches) is below the threshold quantity (9 eaches) for this item’s replenishment rule.
2. Creating a pick ticket and changing status
-
Open the shipping order and generate a pick ticket.
-
Change the order status to In Process.
-
Click Save.
3. Checking the work order
Open the Work Orders page. The page displays a new replenishment work order for this item.
4. Replenishing the stock
Staff go to the floor with an RF scanner and replenish the pickable location.
Note Complete the replenishment task before starting the pick. Otherwise, the picker will arrive at the pick location(s) and find an insufficient quantity.
Log in to the scanner.
Select Work Orders (5).
Select Existing Order (1).
There are several options on this screen. We select By Account (3).
Select the account.
Select the Work Order. In this example, it is number 4.
Review the summary. The work order number is the item code (or SKU if available). The Type is Replenishment. Select (1) to continue.
This screen shows the name of the non-pickable storage location (the place to pull inventory). The screen also shows the quantity to relocate (20). Scan the location to confirm.
Scan an LPN (if available) or select Enter.
Scan the item code.
Enter the quantity to relocate. The user must enter a number that matches the quantity on the screen (which is 20 in this example).
If the user enters a different quantity, the screen displays an error message.
Scan the pickable location.
The work order is complete. The screen displays a success message.
Verifying the change
Go to the DVU UI and open the Inventory by Location module. Locate the item that was part of the replenishment work order and confirm the quantity.
The screenshot below shows the replenished quantity in the pickable location. Before replenishment, the quantity was 5 eaches. After replenishment (relocate 20 eaches), the new quantity is 25 eaches.
