A previous article showed DVU users how to create a load with one stop. This article shows users how to create a multi-stop load.
Workflow
There are two ways to create a multi-stop load:
-
start from scratch and add all shipments to the load in a single step, or
-
create a partial load, save the file, and return later to add or edit data to the existing load
The example below shows users how to add shipments to an existing load.
Opening a load
-
Go to Home > Transporation > Dispatch.
-
Click the Loads tab.
-
Click the Refresh button.
-
Double-click a load. The template displays.
-
Click Shipments/Stops on the side menu.
Adding shipments and stops
Scroll down the Loads page and click the plus icon near the Shipments heading.
On the next page, click the Refresh button.
-
Make sure the Auto Create Stops box is checked.
-
Locate the existing shipment(s) in the list.
-
Check box(es) to add/remove shipments to the load.
-
Click Save. The Edit Load page displays.
Note DVU users can also create a new shipment for this load. Click here to learn how.
-
Davinci displays shipping information (e.g. number of units and weight) for the selected shipments at the top of the page.
Setting stop order
Initially, the DVU platform adds rows to the Stops and Shipments sections but leaves the Stop assignment columns blank. This column requires manual input.
-
Go to the Stops section.
-
Number the rows in the Stop column in sequence, starting with the number one.
-
Go to the Shipments section.
-
Add a matching number to each row.
Note DVU treats the stop order as relative rather than absolute. That means a stop order of 1-2-3 generates the same results as 1-2-4.
Note When finished, the number of each row in the Shipments section should match a row in the Stops section.
Error message
DVU displays an error message if the user enters the same stop number for a different address.
Adding details
Use the date picker to enter an appointment date and time for the stop.
-
Enter an appointment reference number. (optional)
-
Click Save.
Best Practices
Use the Appointment Date fields on the Shipments/Stops page to manage delivery schedules.
Modifying a load
To remove or update a shipment on a load, click a row (the color changes to blue).
-
Click the Edit icon to make changes.
-
Click the Delete icon to remove a row.
